The Marathi Mandal event calendar for the year 2020 kickstarted with the celebration of Makar Sankrant Haldi Kunku on the 19th of January in Meerbusch Büderich.
The event started at 3 pm with the ladies arriving in their pretty black attires and traditional maharastrian jewelry. A brief introduction to the day was given by Sharvari Bhalerao telling about the upcoming events in the year and the changes in the Team.
A short round of an introduction game began thereafter. Alongside, the ladies received Haldi Kunku along with the delicious tilacha ladu with the promises of „tilgul ghya ani goad goad bola“. The gorgeous “Vaan or gift“ in the form of a vel (traditional Marathi earring) was something that was loved by the ladies. 
The prizes for the best dressed lady, best dressed girl and the best Ukhana were announced. The event then concluded with a few impromptu songs that were sung by the ladies and a dance to one of the famous Marathi lavanis.
It was a great start to the event calendar of 2020, and Marathi Mitra Mandal is looking forward to celebrating much such events with you!
